Hope, KS 11-7-2012

The Gridiron Cafe, Hope KS

It's always fun to try a new ride and what better way than to trade with a fellow ROMEO.  That's how I came to ride Terry's new Concours to Hope today.  It's a fantastic ride, fit about right, more power that should be legal, all kinds of buttons and geezwhizses.  Wind in your face?  Just press the button to raise the windshield.  I could get used to something like this.

I managed to make it all the way there without dumping the bike,  Terry said he enjoyed riding my Triumph Bonneville but I think he was being nice.

The Gridiron was about full of ROMEOs when I went in which means that most of them didn't wait until 12:30 as asked.  What are you gonna do with a bunch of old farts?  The staff were hustling like crazy and everyone seemed to get served in pretty good time.

The food was pretty good too.  I suppose some of the crew found someplace to have ice cream but I had to get home.  Nice day for a lunch ride.

Now the lying really starts!

Albert, KS 10/17/2012

Kicking tires, telling lies

If you blink you'll miss the main street of Albert, just off of KS 96 west of Great Bend.  Richard, Joyce and I checked this place out a few weeks ago and discover they had a newly opened bar/grill called Papa's.

Marty and I rode the 90 miles out there is the howling wind but it was worth the ride.  Good food, nice people and a clean cafe.

They even serve breakfast.

W650 Sold

When I traded the broken Royal Enfield in on the Triumph Bonneville I made the decision to sell the W650.  That was just over a year ago and yesterday (June 27th) the Dubya went home with a new owner.  Paul flew into Wichita and I met him at the airport, his plan was to ride it home.
Now that the deed is done I know it was the right thing to do but I miss it anyway.  It was a real pretty bike and quite the conversation piece.  The last I saw it the new owner had a big smile on his face as he turned South to his home in Louisiana.
