Holyrood, 3-17-10

It was darn cold and spitting rain as I pulled into Spangles at 10am.  Emmery and Larry were there on their scoots and we wasted little time in getting on the road west.  Emmery and his red Vespa were in the lead and I guess he thought the faster he went the sooner we could get out of the cold.  Good plan, my fingers were seriously hurting by the time we rolled into Ellsworth.
My electric vest was pumping out the heat and it was a strange sensation to be sweating on my chest and have my hands numb with cold.  I've got to look into heated gloves.
The scooter boys called it a day before heading south to Holyrood, having decided that breakfast in Ellsworth sounded better than lunch in Holyrood.  Although it wasn't as bad going with the wind it was bad enough that I bought a cup of coffee at the C & V just to warm my hands.
For the record I was the first one to arrive but I waited on lunch until a few more showed up.  The special was a brat and triangle potatoes.  What you ask is a triangle potato?  Turns out it is a big triangle shaped tater tot.  The triangle was much more tasty than the dried out brat.
Had a nice visit with everyone and headed home at 12:45 to find that things had heated up a couple degrees so the hands weren't in pain by the time I got home.  Even saw a couple patches of blue sky.  Supposed to be 65 tomorrow and snow on the weekend, ya can't beat Springtime in Kansas.

First ROMEO Lunch of the Year, Minneapolis, KS 03-03-10

First off it was too damn cold to be riding a motorcycle but I had a heated vest and we haven't had a lunch ride in weeks so I was going cold or not.  Anyway it was supposed to be up to near 50 in the afternoon.  I made it to the meeting spot all cozy in my vest but it must have come unplugged waiting around for everyone to show up cause it would come on no matter how hard I punched the green button with my over sized winter gloves.  So it was a cold ride to Minneapolis.
Fifteen of us eventually settled in on KT's Grill and Pizza Parlor for lunch.  The little place was filled up with ROMEOs.  I found out later that Richard hadn't told them that we were coming so I'm sure they were shocked at the crowd of old men on motorcycles.  They handled it well and everyone got to eat.  I had a decent hamburger and didn't hear anyone complain.
After lunch there was the usual visiting and swapping of lies and sitting around in the sun.

The ride home was quite pleasant, the vest was working and I ever had to turn it off a couple of times it got so warm.
Below are four stalwart ROMEOs bundled up for the ride to lunch.

I had something all written up and accidentally deleted it. If I get in the mood I'll write it up again.
