Temperature Theory

My theory is that the thermometer outside the kitchen window picks up heat from the house and gives a false high reading.  I put this theory to the test on a regular basis, like today.  Beautiful blue skies, slight breeze, bright sunshine and 58 degrees.  Only when I get out of the protected streets of my neighborhood do I remember the theory.  A mile from home my hands are cold and my knees hugging the tank of the Dubya to get out of the wind.  The chill stabilized after a few miles so talked myself into getting in a 20 mile ride before I packed it and headed for the house.

Back at home and on the computer, www.weather.com confirms my theory.  Fifty degrees and it feels like fifty cause there is no wind chill.  I could look up the wind chill at 55mph when it is 50 degrees but why spoil a decent ride?  It was supposed to be near 60 tomorrow but that looks like it is going to carp so I will savor what little time I had to ride.
