Holyrood, 3-17-10

It was darn cold and spitting rain as I pulled into Spangles at 10am.  Emmery and Larry were there on their scoots and we wasted little time in getting on the road west.  Emmery and his red Vespa were in the lead and I guess he thought the faster he went the sooner we could get out of the cold.  Good plan, my fingers were seriously hurting by the time we rolled into Ellsworth.
My electric vest was pumping out the heat and it was a strange sensation to be sweating on my chest and have my hands numb with cold.  I've got to look into heated gloves.
The scooter boys called it a day before heading south to Holyrood, having decided that breakfast in Ellsworth sounded better than lunch in Holyrood.  Although it wasn't as bad going with the wind it was bad enough that I bought a cup of coffee at the C & V just to warm my hands.
For the record I was the first one to arrive but I waited on lunch until a few more showed up.  The special was a brat and triangle potatoes.  What you ask is a triangle potato?  Turns out it is a big triangle shaped tater tot.  The triangle was much more tasty than the dried out brat.
Had a nice visit with everyone and headed home at 12:45 to find that things had heated up a couple degrees so the hands weren't in pain by the time I got home.  Even saw a couple patches of blue sky.  Supposed to be 65 tomorrow and snow on the weekend, ya can't beat Springtime in Kansas.
